I added a bit of history about Beast and the motivation and intention behind creating it. The section shall help understand why it is designed the way it is and that it is the way it should be.

You can read it on the official website on the page titled The Beast Desktop Environment.

installed splitliux in a vm recently and had a small play. think its cool. will try and use it more, but the beast is daunting. Can you explain about tor. Does it automatically start a tor server relay? Lucky i was behind a vpn for testing. Will keep following this one :)

      Hi and welcome!

Tor is run within Docker to allow containers to access the Internet anonymously. It’s not exposed to the outside. This is the base for the Docker image: https://gitlab.com/kevcrumb/tor-router

Beast really lacks documentation. I hope some day somebody excited about the project takes charge, so I can focus on getting functionality added.

For now you may start by getting used to the hotkeys (hit Alt+F1) and find useful aliases by browsing ~/.zshrc.d/20-common.sh.

You can also define custom shortcuts by editing the corresponding files in ~/.config/beast/hotkeys.

      Enjoy!
